The Swan Knows His NameFri Jan 31 2025
This Riso print portrays the silent bond between an old man and a swan. As time flows, the swan seems to understand his murmurs and becomes part of his world. Dreamy colors and soft light evoke the emotional connection between human and nature, reflecting themes of memory and companionship.

This painting was inspired by a fairytale scene I encountered in St James's Park in London. On a September afternoon in the year 2024, I was walking in the park with a friend. We happened to see a grey-haired old man who, after stopping his bicycle, took off his coat and walked towards the lake with his bird feeder. All kinds of birds saw him coming and came from all over. And the swans, always wary, were very close to him. He smiled and hugged the swans as if he had met an old friend. All the visitors were touched by this scene, which also made me feel the bond between man and nature. So I sketched the scene, redrew it with Procreate and printed it with Riso. I hope to meet this old man in the near future and give him this painting.

I am honoured to have been named the chosen winner of the American Illustration 44 (AI-AP) for this piece. It is currently under review for the HiiiIllustration 2024 competition.
